Smoke, Sizzle, and Savor the Flavor of the West at the Autry's 2007 Barbeque Championship and Festival


The Autry National Center fires up the grill for the second annual Barbeque Championship and Festival - a professional cook-off sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. Sample the tastes of Q'n competition and cheer on your favorite teams as they season, smoke, and sizzle their way to cash prizes.

  • Taste championship quality barbecue from outstanding vendors such as: Cheers Catering's Taste of the West Barbeque, George's Traditional Barbeque, Silvio's Brazilian Barbeque, Sun Chow's Pan Asian Barbeque.
  • Discover tricks of the trade from noted culinary experts through cooking demonstrations by: Two Guys Grilling and their signature "California Q" recipes; Lenny Bent from the Cookin' with Lenny television show; Charles Perry, Los Angeles Times food critic, who will cook up some real 1950s-style L.A. barbecue; and Kathy Murphy, who takes on tri-tip barbecue.
  • Enter in Wood Ranch BBQ& Grill's rib eating contest or the good ole' fashion Coco's Restaurant Bakery's pie eating contest! Only for the brave at heart!
  • Watch your kids have fun with arts and crafts activities (both indoors and outdoors).
  • Learn all about life on the trail from cowboy cook Tom Perini and his 1800's replica chuck wagon (sponsored by Pace Foods).
  • Become a Line Dancer with Michael Ben David from Mike's Country Dancing!
  • Dance to the country, folk sounds of Christina Ortega, James Intveld, and Sage Guyton and the Lucky Stars.
