Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale

Rules of Sale

The George Montgomery Gallery is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and reopens at 5:30 p.m. for the Cocktail Reception and Fine Art Exhibition and Sale. Guests will receive one bid book consisting of one intent-to-purchase slip for each piece of art.

The drawing of intent-to-purchase slips begins at 7:30 p.m. at the sound of the triangle. Two names will be drawn and posted beside each work of art. The person whose name is drawn first has 20 minutes to confirm the purchase with the salesperson next to the artwork by signing the sales receipt. At 7:50 p.m., the triangle will sound again. If the first person whose name was drawn has not arrived to sign the sales receipt, the next person whose name is drawn is then given the option to purchase and 15 minutes to confirm the sale.

All artwork will be sold in this manner with the exception of the silent bid artworks. In the case of sculptures with multiples in the edition, the work on display goes to the first person whose name is drawn unless otherwise noted. Names are drawn until the edition is sold.

The Masters Miniatures has its own section in the bid book with the bid sheets for the miniatures designated by color and number. One name for each miniature will be drawn at 7:50 p.m., and the winning names will be posted. Those potential buyers will have 15 minutes to confirm the sale.

No credit cards will be accepted the night of the sale.
All purchases must be made by check.

Silent Bid

Because we anticipate intense interest in acquiring these six special works, and we want to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity, there will be a sealed silent bid procedure. Each patron who has purchased a ticket to the Cocktail Reception and Fine Art Exhibition and Sale on February 3, 2007, may bid the price they are comfortable with on one or more of these remarkable works. Bids will remain sealed until 7 p.m. on the night of the reception, when we will announce the winning bids. Envelopes and bid forms are included in the Masters of the American West packets distributed at registration on the day of the event. Those who have purchased a ticket but who are not able to attend may request to have silent bid forms sent to them for mailing back to the Autry.
